Focus on What is Working

"Emotions and thoughts are powerful. They can pull us in every direction if we’re unaware of their strength. When we pay attention, we affirm our ability to direct them more consciously. At any moment, we can choose to make a positive shift and uplift our perspective.” from The Moon Deck

Personally, I have shifted my perspective immensely in the past three years. And only by looking back and reflecting on where I have been can I genuinely comprehend my growth and healing. I am proud of myself and grateful that I started making intentional moves toward my personal healing and growth. Because I wasn’t always like this. A girl that looks for the good in people and introduces herself first. A girl that dances to music while washing the dishes and making beach walks a priority. I’m not quite sure how I got to this exact moment in my life where I’m free from judgment (from myself and others) and hyper-focused on finding joy in all the moments of life. I genuinely feel happy simply because I experience every moment as magical. And I trust that everything is happening exactly as it should. I rest in my total trust in the universe. Everything will happen just as it should without force. The people that will read this blog will find this blog. The people that need to come to my yoga classes will find my yoga classes. If you are supposed to come on a yoga retreat with me, you will come on a yoga retreat with me. I’m not interested in rushing into my future because I understand that my “future” is just a figment of my imagination (and therefore, I should also imagine the best possible future ever). The moment I am in, the present moment, is the only moment I have available to me. All past moments are done and written; they can not be undone or rewritten. The only way I can “fix” “the mistakes” of the past is to choose a different action in my present.

So what does ~ focus on what is working ~ mean to me?

Literally that. At any moment, you choose to pay attention. Pay attention? To what? To whatever you want to pay attention to. And you can choose to focus on the good. You can choose to focus on what’s working. You can choose to focus on everything you have available to you. To can choose gratitude. And for me, once I realized that it’s my choice and my thoughts, actions, and words create my reality, then all of a sudden, an infinite expanse of possibilities, and more importantly, all the possibilities of my wildest dreams and imaginations because a very real reality.

What does life feel like when you walk as though every step is the most precious step you’ll make? What does life feel like when you pay attention to the eye color of the person you are talking to? What does life feel like when you enjoy the moments of your children, spouse, and friends without distracting yourself with your phone? How precious is your breath when you remember that your breath is only borrowed and very, very temporary? All of a sudden, for me personally, I only have time for the good. I only have time for things that bring me joy. xoxo

If you need more of me in person, come retreat with me in Costa Rica. My November retreat is full (unless you know someone already going who wants to share their room). But the October retreat still has lots of space. And you are invited! Come and focus on what is working in your life for one week in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Send me a message, and I’ll send you more information.
