It's Not the End of the World

I’ve been wanting to put this story here for a while but there are so many different characters involved I wasn’t sure how they would feel about being in my story. And then I thought, “Virginia, you’ve only been married once so far, everyone is going to know who you are talking about.” But then I thought, “lets start at the beginning, before the marriage.” Because I really do like the way I met him. It’s a get story. And I feel like I tell it really good but it’s also because I am the one telling the story.

So anyways from my perspective, remember.

It was December 2006. I didn’t walk the stage for graduation. My parents were disappointed. Not because I didn’t graduate from the University of Nebraska, because I did! But because I didn’t care enough to walk across the stage for posterity. But I had been partying with my friends all night long the time before so my best friend Sydney and my other best friend Chris and my other really good, friend Will just walk to get our diplomas. And jumped in the air. Ha. (insert picture of me from my fridge in real life).

So the next day, my mom, my dog, and me drove to Austin, Texas. And I didn’t know anyone yet.

April 22, 2024

As retold by Virginia:

I moved to Austin, Texas on Sunday, December 17, 2006 (and today is many moons later).

I would divorce him on the last Friday of the month in January in 2024.

I would meet him on Monday, the next day and I had no idea. I promise. I didn’t see it coming.

And it’s not the end of the world. That’s the title of this post for my blog.

He gifted me a blog one time you know. We lived in Dallas for some years. Running environmental non-profits together.

On Saturday, December 2, 2006 there was a full moon.
